I am a big Anne Rice fan, as she is one of my favorite authors, and yet I am going to make the complaint that I have noticed other people have been making about her Songs of the Seraphim novels, as compared to her former witch and vampire books.
How shall I say it?
Well, her prose can be a bit bland at times. It lacks the luscious, voluminous curvature I noticed in her former novels. It can be flat and unprepossessing in the descriptions, where always before it was filled with dark, smoky sensuality.

I understand she's with the Lord now, and all that, but she was always a great writer to me and I am hopeful and fearful that it might not be lost altogether.

This was a fast read, and I am expecting as I have noticed that she likes to send Toby on missions involving saving the Jewish community, that the Holocaust is up next. Kind of hoping it will be. That would be interesting.
