Caramon, Tanis, Tas, and Raistlin are back in a continuance of the dragonlance chronicles written in the mid 1980's. The characters are well defined including Raistlin - a truly chaotic character, which is rarely found in most fantasy books. There's some repetition from previous series, but it is still an enjoyable read. Interesting bits are the relationship between Raistlin, and his brother, Caramon. Sometimes the authors forward the time and you wonder how if you missed something. However, that's just their style. For the most part it works - mainly because of the solid characters. most likely, if you read this book, you've at least read the chronicles and perhaps the war of souls, so you know the deal.
If you haven't then I suggest stepping back and starting there to better enjoy the characters history and maturation.
