Looking for a good activity to motivate your kids to write this summer? Check this book out from the library. The introduction explains that a mysterious man named Harris Burdick dropped off 14 illustrations, complete with tagline and title at a publisher's office. He promised to deliver the 14 stories that accompanied these illustrations but he never returned and was never heard from or seen again. You cannot help but start creating stories in your mind when you look at these imaginative pictures.
After you've had your kids write their stories, follow up with "The Chronicles of Harris Burdick" which is a compilation of these 14 stories, written by a variety of famous authors.
We've had so much family fun in the evenings with this book.
