The Elephant Whisperer
May 22, 2012
I requested this book after being sent a YouTube of a line of elephants slowly walking by Lawrence Anthony's house right after he died. This was a unique event that was captured by Anthony's son. How did the elephants know of his passing? Here the elephants mourned him just as they mourn the death of one of their own. And as you read this book, you realize that Anthony became one of their own as a result of great courage, and great patience. Anthony was responsible for leading a rescue team to aid the animals at the war torn Baghdad zoo. Here, he describes the depth of communication possible when it is based on respect and love. I can't wait to read his other books.
