I thought this book was very simple yet pleasant book at the same time. Tracie Peterson seems to bring alive the characters in this book in an ever so subtle manner, which makes it all the more realistic. I personally enjoy historical fiction a lot, and this book taking place in the late 1800's in Texas made it quite easy for me to be a "part of the story". I love how the author puts in Christian relevance in this book, too, and how the characters are strong in their faith with God. However, this book wasn't suspenseful or full of mystery; it also lacked a bit in imagery or strong liveliness. Regardless, I would rate this a 4/5 because of the morals and principals of this story. Plus, the characters were so sweet, too!
