it was ok
bookshelves: young-adult, scifi

I read this in junior high, decades ago, and what I remember most about the book is how disturbing and abrupt it was. How characters seemed more like caricatures and it read more like a solid first draft. I did think about it afterward, which normally bumps a book up a star for me, but in this case, I simply felt unsettled, not inspired or intrigued.

Truth is, as much as I love dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction, I am all about kittens and hugs and flowers in the sunlight. This was too simplistically dark and soulless for me. So, take my review with a grain of salt.
