it was ok

This book was just ok. The style was pretty easy to read and not poorly written just the plot kind of felt like it lacked something.
There were way too many characters in this web of corruption and i couldn't keep them all straight. the protagonist is kind of a huge asshole and not terribly likeable. i feel bad for his mom for a lot of the book.
By the end of the book I wasn't entirely clear on who the murderer turned out to and I guess i get their motives but it's all so vague and not well connected and mildly confusing.
I understanding it's the first in a series so maybe you have to read more in the series for the mystery to get more details filled in but I'm not sure i'm that motivated to read more. We'll see.
