really liked it

I generally don't like Stephen King although people over the years keep thrusting his stuff in my face and saying "Read THIS one, you'll like THIS one." And except for some of the short stories, I never do. But a few years ago I was curious to see what he would do with fantasy (as opposed to horror), so I read the entire Dark Tower series and really enjoyed it--particularly the ending, which isn't a popular opinion (the Interwebs seem to have hated it) but I thought it was perfect. So my response to this new entry in the series (set in the middle of the story) was the exact same as the way King characterized it in his introduction: a visit with old friends.
