Thanks to a Goodreads giveaway, I was able to read this book before it's been officially released.

I've been a fan of Giffin's for a few years now, but seem to be a little more disappointed with each book I read. While this story was certainly interesting and didn't lag at any point, it lacked a certain substance, a certain depth.

I never found myself identifying with any of the characters. To that end, I think Giffin failed to adequately develop any of the main players. In fact, there were times when I would get confused as to who was narrating a certain portion - the 30-something mother, or the teenage daughter.

While I *did* enjoy the book, it just doesn't live up to her previous efforts, which always seemed one step above typical chick-lit.

Will I read more by Emily Giffin? Absolutely. But, I might choose to re-read one of her first books again before plowing ahead.
