I read this book for book club. I think I would have appreciated it more, had I realized from the beginning that it was a true story. I didn't realize that until I read the afterword. I felt like I had a little trouble following it b/c there were always so many new characters being introduced. However, I think the author was just trying to fit in a portrayal of life in Indian slums from a number of different perspectives. Although I didn't enjoy this book too much, I do feel like it left me with an impression of the poverty in India that I might otherwise have had no idea about.
