I thought Remarkable was somewhat Lemony Snicket-esque: the style of humor, the attention to vocabulary, the addition of odd characters. I was remembering the way in every Beaudelaire situation each of the three kids responded in a characteristic way just as Jane's sister always responds with math and her brother with art. I also wondered, as I do sometimes with Disney movies, if parts of the book were aimed at an older audience -- references kids wouldn't get. It's imaginative and entertaining -- but at times maybe a bit borrowed.
