bookshelves: friendship, ya-fiction, summer, relationships

The friendship between the four forever friends continues. Beautiful Lena, Spunky Carmen, Athletic Brigid, and Dependable Tibby find the summer with new complications, friendships, and family issues.

Brigid takes off for Alabama to reconnect with her distant grandmother and finds a quasi-mother in her. She also rekindles her love for soccer by finding a long-lost teammate, Billy.

Carmen anguishes over her mother's love-life to the point of sabotaging its continuity. She finds she is at odds with her mother over this, and her heart and conscience tell her she has to make it right. But, in the meantime, she squashes a real chance for love in her own life.

Tibby, determined to get out from her job at Wallman's, decides to take a college course in film-making. Brian, her close friend, follows her there, but she ignores him and lets her new friends bully him. She knows in her heart she has made a mistake and tries to make it right.

Lena loses Kostos, finds him again, and finally loses him to the unthinkable. The love of her life is lost undeniably. She loses weight, cries inconsolably, and doesn't know where to turn…until she meets Paul, Carmen's step-brother.

The Second Summer of the Sisterhood again shows us how true and lasting friendship can be a godsend when times are troubled and a joy when times are good.
