Bloody hell, it's sometimes incredible when you go back into literary history and get a real blast of quality writering. I've read a bit of old Dickens but not as much as I shoulda. This was funny, and socially relevant, and clever and strong on story and mercifully short (I'm on a pre-baby reading challenge). Props to Mr Sleary who's a perfect character for a League Of Gentlemen ep and Messrs Gradgrind and Bounderby. And Mrs Sparsit. Ah, bloody good peoples.
