Aisling Grey came verrrry close to being a TSTL heroine. Her main saving grace was that she was somewhat aware of her level of ignorance. Too often, she has more guts and heart than she has sense.

Her first mission as a courier results in her item being stolen, and her as a murder suspect in a foreign country. The meandering path she takes in an effort to clear her name lead her into the roles of 1) a demon lord (Jim is a different demon, to say the least); 2) a wyvern's mate (though she would argue that), and most importantly, 3) a Guardian, although she (and as a result of first-person perspective, we) do not really know what that means.

Drake, the wyvern in question, is a morally ambiguous character. While Aisling is honest in her attraction to him, she understands that secual attraction alone is not enough to build a relationship on. I had no trouble believing where their relationship stood at the end of the book.
