really liked it
bookshelves: around-the-world-in-eighty-books, fiction

A beautiful novel that tells the intergenerational stories of the families in a small Welsh mining town in the years after an accident in the Kindly Light coal mine. The character's stories and lives weave together as the town beggar tells each tale and the understanding of flaws and foibles grows. It is slow-paced, poetic, and compassionate.
