This is a heart-wrenching book, to say the least. My wife read what it was about and asked me why on earth I would read this? Our daughter just turned one and I can't imagine having had to go through that first year without my wife. Just for persevering, Matt Logelin deserves kudos.

I noticed some reviews take issue with the amount of language, his talking about music so often and things like that. Perhaps in a dispassionate review, I would agree with those things. But this is open-hearted honesty, it is the story of a man bearing his soul to the world. In the end, I appreciate that he did not clean it up or sanitize it.

Read this book not because it is great literature (its not Shakespeare), read it to feel empathy for what one fellow human, parent and father, has gone through and how he persevered.
