Purity lays everything out on the table. We hear from a girl named Shelby who was quite content with her life until her father started wanting something to do with her life. Shelby wasn't one of those girls that went out looking for trouble, or even found it every once in a while. She had a good head on her shoulders. Her mother had breast cancer and past away a while back so now it was just her and her father. Before her mother died, she had made three promises to her. She vowed to always keep those promises. To always listen to her father, to love, and to live without restraint. They weren't close by any means, but they made the best of what they had.
Things started getting rocky when her father introduced her to the idea that they were going to the annual Princess Ball. No big deal for Shelby until she realized that this Ball thing her dad wanted to drag her to required vows that she had to recite pertaining to her purity to him and to herself. Her mother went to this ball when she was Shelby's age. This is where I felt for Shelby. One of the hardest decisions she had to make. She didn't want to lie to her father. Coming together with her friends, she devised a plan to work around a loophole so the vows would no longer affect her. Smart thinking, but in the end, Shelby had love all around her, supporting her in every decision she ever made throughout whatever she did, or didn't do and never had to make rash decisions to begin with.
Throughout her journey of preparing for the Princess Ball, and preparing for the reciting of the vows, Shelby learns that honesty may be what would've worked best all along. I loved the ending and how everything came together for her just right. Nothing like she expected it would.
