Jack by Norman Whaler is a cute book about a boy named Jack who is at home sick with the measles. Jack is your typical boy that wants to play video games and thinks reading is boring. Left with no choice but to use his imagination he starts imagining he is in stories as the clouds form shapes outside his window. He realizes all the adventures he imagined were not from his video games but books. I felt this was a great message for kids. The story was short and easy to read. The artwork is wonderful and very engaging for young readers. The message is that books feed your mind even when you don’t realize it. I loved that it touched on many classics as well. It is a great combination to keep the attention of young children. My daughter loved the story and illustrations and asks to read the book over and over.
