The anthropological aspects were interesting, but not the memoir vibe. Hard to get into the first 2 chapters when you feel like you're being told witticisms and anecdotes by a neurotic person who really wants to be best friends. However, it gets better past ch. 3, when there's more about the customs of French child rearing, which are much wiser than the shit going on in the US. Can see this being eaten up by many overeager American moms, but not ultimately working since US is not set up to facilitate this style of parenting en masse (free, quality daycares, organic & gourmet institutional food, obliteration of snack time and processed food, etc). Can see trendy moms emigrating to France though.
