Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2)
May 09, 2012
the second book in the all souls trilogy by harkness is half of a great book and half of a weak book. the first half of the book is weak to say the least...a 3 star at best...while the last half is an extremely strong read...a 5 star. the first half plays the exact same as the first half of the first book...too many (unnecessary) details. don't get me wrong...i love details and i don't mind a long read...this however was overly written and underly (i know its not a word!) impressive. however, the halfway point passes and i couldn't put the book down! to explain, it took me roughly 3 weeks to read this book (that is about 2 1/2 more than other books!) and the first 2 1/2 weeks were spent on the first half of the book. the last 3 days i cruised through about 300 pages and finished the book because of how good it got! i hope that harkness just keeps up with that pace in the third book because its a good series that is getting bogged down in its own melodrama in the beginnings. that being said...it is a very good book...i would definitely recommend it!
