Kevin is a careless, less-than-serious boy who gets into trouble a fair amount and whose relationship with his father is rocky. He dislikes soccer but his gym teacher/soccer star dad refuses to listen. Then the family inherits a house in Halifax. Kevin does like the Titanic, and is fascinated to learn of Halifax's connection to the disaster, as well as of their house's previous owner's role in the body recovery. But almost immediately, Kevin is singled out by a ghost, who wants to know where her lost baby is. Kids will enjoy this creepy touch, but I found the characters to be poorly developed and Kevin himself frenetic and not very believable. Read for the Titanic details. 5th grade and up.
