This is a collection of stories that feature Beatrice Hempel, seventh grade English teacher.

When we first meet her, Ms. Hempel is young and newly engaged. She is a favorite among her students, and after discovering how she thinks of them, it is no wonder why she is so beloved. Ms. Hempel's insights are marvelous, and her affection for her students endears her to the reader.

As the reader progresses through the chronicles, Ms. Hempel matures, and her life changes. But the reader still loves Ms. Hempel. She is awesome!

I loved reading this collection of stories. Ms. Hempel is extremely likable, and the size of the collection keeps your interest (only 193 pages).
