I've read reviews that told me this book was far better then Honolulu, I'd say they were closer to even then one being better then the other. The overall feeling of this book was sadness, the whole 'situation' was sad, the results were sad, not until the very ending did the sadness lift, somewhat, and give way to 'happiness' of a sort.
Though Rachel makes the very best of her isolation, it is still an awful situation. I though Honolulu had more hope, but that may just be me.
It was good and I liked how it was historically based, but was a good fiction story laced with history.
Not bad, enjoyable, if you can call it that.
Give it a shot.
