Loved this book! I figured it would be another typical fantasy/horror novel, but I was wrong. I was fascinated by Vlad the Impaler since I was in grade school (creepy, I know) and was interested in reading this book. They had a very interesting take on vampires from a medical view. It tells the story of a CDC doctor working in Romania and is frustrated with the country's lack of medical equipment. Kate is so intent on helping a certain baby boy that she adopts him and brings him to the U.S. She soon finds out that her son's blood might hold the key to curing cancer and AIDS. Kate also finds out that some people want the child back.
