it was ok
bookshelves: 2012, audiobook

This is the first Gregory novel I've tried. And I'll say that I listened to it on cd rather than read it; I personally believe this makes a difference. I also didn't realize until it was over that it was an abridged version, so I'm sure that has an effect too. I don't like the idea of "reading" only parts of a book. Which parts are they? The good parts? Then why were the other parts in there to begin with? The idea confounds.

I was into it for the first half or so, but then I just got bored. To borrow a phrase from a pal, the last two cds were "a painful slog." This makes me never want to pick up Gregory again, but I think I'll try "The Other Boleyn Girl" just to appease my mother-in-law. I also have to add that this sort of book may just be too far outside the bounds of the genre/story that I usually like. Maybe it's good for her genre, whatever that is.
