really liked it

A sugar-sweet, sex-positive Young Adult rom-com that follows a high school senior as she plans to lose her virginity before she goes off to college.

This is just the sweetest book! The feelings of imminent change and navigating friendships in the face of graduation were so palpable and made my heart ache for what can be such an exciting, frightening time in a young person's life. As the main character navigates the changing landscape of her life, she also explores her sexuality for the first time. She's feeling pressured by her own feelings of fitting in, perceptions of her peers’ sex lives, + the guy she's crushing on to lose her virginity, but she’s forgotten to ask herself what she really wants. This story is wonderfully sex-positive + super responsible and honest in its portrayals of teenage sex. Totally bingeable + with surprising depth, this is a YA romance I definitely recommend.

Looking for more great YA, + from BIPOC authors? A few recs—
- Felix Ever After, Kacen Callender
- Juliet Takes a Breath, Gabby Rivera
- The Black Flamingo, Dean Atta
- On the Come Up + The Hate U Give, Angie Thomas
- They Both Die at the End, Adam Silvera
- Frankly in Love, David Yoon
- I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, Erika L. Sanchez
- To All the Boys I've Loved Before, Jenny Han
- Almond, Won-pyung Sohn
