it was amazing

I received this book through Goodreads Giveaways. Thanks for the advanced copy!

When in Doubt, Add Butter falls into the chick lit genre. I really enjoyed the book despite my initial book cover judgement (The cupcakes looked good, but I thought the novel itself would be boring. I thought it would be one of those typical "this is my recipe" at the beginning of every chapter let me relate it to my life kind of books -- it's not.). The various characters Gemma cooks for are interesting, and I love the way they are introduced. In my opinion, the overall plot was creative. It allowed for some originality while conforming to the expected constraints of a chick lit novel.

I guess I should have seen the way the plot would unfold. It was exactly how I hoped it would, but for some reason I didn't see it coming.

It was a very good read. I couldn't put it down. A typical "and they lived happily ever" ending which was what I was looking for.
