The remainder of the series is pretty crummy (with the exception of the bizarro 'love' interest in Book 3, who was a fascinating character). That said: this, this first in Lumley's Necroscope series, is pretty decent popcorn-munching vampir fiction. The 'e' is missing on purpose.

Our protagonist is a bit too glib about his earth-shaking abilities, and like a bad fanfic, those abilities keep getting rewritten and ramped-up over the course of the work. However, the villain is satisfyingly despicable, and if you can hold your nose during the now dated cold-war bits, there's some decent fun to be had here.
