it was ok
bookshelves: christian-fiction, boy-adventure, fantasy, girl-adventure-magic, ya-romance

I almost didn't finish this book. It took a long time to get going. The first 2 chapters were ok and then it all went down hill for me. I skipped a lot of the high school stuff in Ash's chapters. It just didn't seem to add to the book. The writing style was also very juvenile and weird for me. I did keep reading and eventually got to some good action and a much better plot and character building toward the middle end. You finally got some answers to questions you weren't even sure were questions, everything was kept very vague. I did like the ending, but not enough to keep reading this series. There were Christian references thrown in randomly in the middle that makes this a kinda Christian book. There were intense make-out scenes that were kept under control making this a clean teen read.
