while not as innovative or compelling as the first volume, this one definitely provides a worthy follow up. the story line is continued in an interesting way and the characters are becoming deeper and weirder, which is a good thing.

the comparisons to sherlock holmes are also on the rise. while you get the sense that Mark Waid has a plan for how this whole "six months to live" detective story is going to go, he wisely is taking plenty of circuitous routes through other mysteries and stories, much the same way the original Sherlock stories did.
