Good story but questions remain
The story is quite well-crafted. It is all believable. I had to be married to a tyrant before I could have understood, but this author does a good job of portraying two versions of male tyranny and the various outcomes it produces.
I didn't like the mother's part of the story, because I believe a better outcome was possible. Let the reader analyze the possible differences if she had ever stood up to Tilly. It is hard for me to believe she dragged along with that woman whose tyranny was the equal of Joe's. Read for yourself. It's a good read with a satisfying ending no matter what.
