Though it seems to be packaged as mainstream fiction, it's essentially a romance novel featuring a desi-American couple, with added heft because they're dealing with an arranged marriage and all the conflicts of identity that come with living with two cultures. Their story is believable and satisfying. The novel is light on sex and a tad heavy on outside perspectives (which I totally enjoyed, but which might not fit with some people's expectations of the focus of a romance novel). Also features the hero's cheating more than some might like, though it works to show him as a human character rather than an idealized romantic hero. Well-written and engaging with a satisfying level of detail. The main element of the heroine's backstory is revealed rather late in the game and felt somewhat inappropriately minimalized, and the ending could have used more padding, but overall a definitely good read if you're in the mood for a story featuring desi-American leads.
