A fun lighthearted look at growing up in a small town. This reads like a blog that has been printed off and bound into a book. Although you can tell by reading between the lines Haven Kimmel didn't have the easiest life (her mother probably suffered from depression, her father was probably an alcoholic with a gambling problem etc.) the book was not a depressing memoir like The Glass Castle.

Bethany The sequel, "She Got Up Off the Counch:And Other Heroic Events From Mooreland, Indiana", is wonderful as well. It also confirms the fact that there were some powerful undercurrents to the family that she only hints at in "Zippy". I would definetly give it a go.
