it was amazing

A True Story of Myth, Madness and Greed. The history of logging in north-western America/Canada, a book about exploration of self and land and the Queen Charlotte Islands. It's hard to describe, and difficult to put down. The life of Grant Hadwin is followed alongside the beginnings of commercial logging, all in the geographical and social context of the explorer Europeans trading skins, arms and timber with the native Haida, and ending with the 1997 felling of the Golden Spruce - which hit the news worldwide.

My brother went to Haida Gwaii and gave me this book for Christmas.
