A better than average Sookie adventure, Deadlocked isn't particularly well plotted, but it does resolve a lot of plot lines that have been running slightly too long. Certain aspects of the series will never be dealt with again after this, and that's a good thing, but the fact that Harris saw fit to mention Quinn in any capacity is a bad one.

Sookie books are ultimately comfort food, and this one is laced with none of the benign poisons of the last few efforts. Certainly, Sookie speaks against gun safety common sense, and she's still unsure how to relate with the copious numbers of men in her life, but the sheer routine of the whole thing overcomes that. If all goes according to plan, the next Sookie book will be the last.

Given that Sookie imagines happy endings for everyone she knows in this book, and those happy endings are uniformly marriage and multiple children, I think I know how Harris is going to close this series out: not with a vamp, but a shifter.
