really liked it
bookshelves: 2020-mt-tbr, fantasy, mystery, series, southern

The paranormal aspect of the books isn't hokey or weird but very realistic. This family has a gift that has been inherited by Melanie who has spent her life trying to deny and hide it so she can be normal. But life has a way of catching up to us as the malevolent ghost living in her childhood home is growing stronger and wants to kill her and her mother. But there is a mystery to solve before they know how to vanquish her and send her to the light and make her move on. There are family relationships to work out, romantic relationships to work out, and old family secrets to puzzle out. All in the Charleston, SC, where the city is a character unto itself. Quite fun and kept my interest.
