I really liked the Ice Princess despite the translation. But The Preacher? I can't help but feel the translation has made this novel a lot more simplistic--especially the stereotypical slang--than it really is. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is a lot more simplistic than I want it to be.

The story line did pick up mid-way through but I felt like the author was mostly setting up the characters and their backstories for future novels. I think I would have preferred error on the side of plot, more exposition and let the characters unfold rather than cramming all the character lines into one novel that feels superficial.

Hrmmm. I think I will probably read one more but if it seems like it isn't the translation, I will probably quit this series.
