ugh. This was the only book I can remember ever faking my way through in class... and of course it bothered me that I never finished it, so 7 years later here I am. And now I realize why I quit it halfway through. The beginning is delightful - Faulkner's way of combining multiple words into one word full of meaning is just beautiful and so cool. But he over-develops some of his characters and in most cases doesn't come back to them once he's given you their life stories... Christmas is a good example of this. It just goes on and on and on, even introducing new characters up to the very last chapter. I think that there a subplots in this book that will stick with me for some time, but overall this book disappointed.
