A rather good book in the sense that it gives a very fascinating insight into the genetic history of humanity in the last 50000 years and the surprisingly small amount of people from which all the non-African races are descended (a band of only around 150). Also it advances an interesting thesis that humanity has become less violent over the last 50000 years and that evolution is still very much on-going (e.g. the presence of certain genetic diseases in Ashkenazi Jews and the link with the occurence of higher than average intelligence in this same group). The book is not always convincing, as in attempting a genetic explanation of religion which imho went too far in trying to reduce everything to a single factor explanation, but on the whole an extraordinarily fascinating book.
