Reading Deadly Cool is like watching an elf eat syrup-drenched spaghetti in a Christmas movie -- it's the kind of funny that catches you off guard.

Deadly Cool is about a girl named Hartley Featherstone who tries to solve a murder mystery in order to clear her ex-boyfriend's name. Obviously, it's not her brightest idea. But that doesn't matter, because Hartley is notoriously funny. And she doesn't even do it on purpose. It catches you off guard.

"How was it fair that I had to conduct a murder investigation and do trig?"

"I was awesome, and I deserved so much better."

And so on and so forth. You get the point. Deadly Cool is surprisingly hilarious, it catches you off guard, yada yada yada. It reminds me of the good ol' days when I could read lightweight fluff and not feel guilty or unintellectual. We all need to get back to those days sometime, and Deadly Cool is the perfect way to get there.
