** spoiler alert ** Cinder by Marissa Meyer (March 23, 2012) Cinder is a teenage cyborg who is an expert mechanic. Dressing in cargo pants and t-shirts, she has a booth in the city market where people bring her all sorts of things to fix. One day the prince shows up and makes Cinder's acquaintance. He leaves his personal android with her to fix. Cinder goes home to a step mother who hates her. Her step- sisters are preparing for the ball. Her younger step-sister loves her. A plague has spread throughout the land and Cinder’s younger sister dies. The step mother sends Cinder to the palace scientists to be used as a guinea pig for an antidote, but the scientist discovers that she is not only a cyborg, not only a Lunar, but the princess believed to have died at the hand of the current Lunar Queen. When she realizes the queen knows who she is, Cinder learns that the way to best help the prince, and her countryfolk, is to escape to a place where she can plan her reinstatement as queen of Luna.
