Divine Misdemeanors by Laurell K. Hamilton, a book review
Hi hot cute girly (and boy) geeks of mine.
Here is another book review with spoilers, this time, divide misdemeanors by Laurell K. Hamilton.
Merry gave up the throne to the Unseelie court in order to save Frosts life and returning with her men and woman back to L.A. she also picks up her job as a detective again. Although not all her men are happy about it. She gets called in by the police in a case about demi-fey murders.
The demi-fey are brutally murders and arranged after a picture in a children’s story book. And Merry is called in because of her knowledge of the fey and who could have done it. Merry decides to warn the other demi-fey about the murders and in doing so they discover a witness to these murders. They start to question her. But the fairy godmother gets wind of this and swoops in to the rescue of bittersweet, the witness.
And then the press finds out she is at the crime scene and follows her, which doesn’t end well for the press. Bittersweet fleets from the police too terrified for anything.
Her men get her finally back home after a long day, where it doesn’t end. She has to deal with Barinthus, former god of the sea. Who isn’t happy that the others are getting back there powers and he isn’t. He is like a big spoiled kid, who doesn’t get a piece of candy from mommy.
Another murder takes place and ones again Merry is called in, although the police would rather not do this, afraid the press again stalks her to the murder scene. This murder is more gruesome then the previous one and Merry finds is hard to stay positive. Being pregnant, these murder scenes, the murder attempts on her and her men, trying to keep everybody happy in her life.
She finally decides to try and please herself instead of everyone around her. And after a third murder they finally find out who did it. But instead of turning the suspects in, Merry gathers her guards and goes after them themselves. Luckily everybody survives and all ends sort of well.
I liked this book better than the previous Merry Gentry novel, but still. It’s hard to keep taps on all the characters, there are so many of them right now. Merry’s men, the female body guards, the staff of the detective agency, the demi-fey and all others I forgot to mention. See, I can’t even remember them all.
I like the fact that Merry is again a detective and there are no crown plotting schemes in this one. Also the sex scenes are awesome as always ;)
Which leaves me rating this book, I give it a 7.5 out of 10. And I’m really looking forward to Merry Gentry nr. 9!
Love, your hot cute girly geek.
