This is a collection of short stories, most of them set in India, often in the jungle, although one, which is about seals, is set in the Bering Sea and the Pacific Ocean. In “Mowgli’s Brothers”, “Maxims of Baloo”, “Tiger, Tiger”, and “Mowgli’s Song", you meet Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves, Shere Khan, the tiger and antagonist, Baloo, the bear, Bagheera, the panther, and many more. “Seal Lullaby” and “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” were also favorites of mine. In “Seal Lullaby” the protagonist is Kotick, a white seal. The protagonist in “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a mongoose of the same name. The book is written for elementary age children, but is charming for all ages.
