it was amazing

I can't say I wasn't warned by more than one person. This was a consuming series of books that I could hardly put down. I found myself sneaking in just a couple pages on my iPhone in carpool etc - anytime I had a few free minutes. Yes, the characters are numerous and the setting complex but don't try to remember every detail - it's impossible. Also, Martin does a good job of reiterating important points in each book. I love the way characters who appear black and white at the beginning of the series develop many shades of gray as the story unfolds (if they survive!). Absolutely loved Tyrion - wonderful character. The HBO series "Game of Thrones" is just as absorbing though there are deviations from the books. My husband gleefully noted it is stamped with all 4 viewer warnings: adult content, violence, nudity, & language. Both the book and the series are full of adult content!!
