it was amazing
bookshelves: dark-fantasy, epic-fantasy

Let me start by saying that I gave this book 5 stars for sheer creativity, not for the author's prose. Don't get me wrong, Erikson has a formidable command of the english language, but he has a tendency be wordy, and he doesn't always explain things clearly enough for you to get a firm grasp of what's going on. By the end, I felt that the book could have been trimmed down by quite a few pages, and I didn't have a firm grasp on the magic system, or some of the major events. Overall, these flaws took something away from the brilliance of the world and magic system, but I still feel that the book in its entirety was a great beginning to an epic series.

P.S. The ending was amazing. In comparison to the rest of the book, it went off like a nuclear bomb.
