Unsurprisingly, considering the title, this is a love story. It's in many ways a fine novel with an only slightly inconceivable plot-drive. We follow the protagonist around Europe around the turn of the last century. First, he'd driven by wanderlust, later by love. I was never bored, but never thrilled either.

As I read more, it is clear that I all the time demand more of the books that I read. Sometimes, when I "allow" myself a crime novel or something "light", I'm disappointed and unfulfilled. This is a development that is both good and bad. It is good, because there really are more excellent books in the world that I'll ever have time to read. But bad because a lot of the new books that are constantly pushed at us are mediocre at best.

Do recommend good books to me - especially new ones. The good classics I think I can find on my own!
