This is definitely my least favorite in this series, which I think I kind of predicted because I read it last even though it's the third installment. I do love the main characters, Samuel and Kate. I have no major complaints about them. But the story definitely lacks the charms that I come to love from this author.

The humour is mild, the romance so-so, and the angst is really low though the story hinted it big. And the reason for the angst is also underwhelming. I was expecting a grand reveal but really, the reveal about Kate and Samuel's past isn't just big. I was expecting more.

I did enjoy the ending and the scenes with their dog. I also enjoy the interaction between the characters, even though I wanted more. So overall, this is still an enjoyable read.
