The Late Show: And Other Tales of Celluloid Malice

In "The Late Show" author John Greco shares with readers a love of movies and crime stories. Like his previous anthology "Bitter Ends" this one has a number of twisty noir yarns of the hard-boiled kind. But there are also a few stories that stretch beyond the confines of the noir genre that I enjoyed more than the others. "Six Shooter" reads like a nostalgic bit of memoir, and "The Cabin" is chilling in the narrator's casual nature describing his serial killing ways. I also enjoyed the write-ups on the films mentioned in the stories that provide further personal and cultural context.
