Man, i think i wrote and erased the first sentence of this review 10 times. I really wanted to love this book. It is hard for me to put on to paper what it was that kept me from loving it though. I liked the main characters. Danny and Maeve were a strong pair and one cannot help but give props to the strength that Maeve had in the face of all that happened.
To say they did not have any good motherly role models is an understatement, both their real mother and step-mother were truly disheartening to me.
Although the family and story were interesting, i did find that the pace dragged at times. I wanted to know what was going to happen, but found myself at times thinking... do i care what is going on atm (willing myself not to skip ahead and to continue reading where i was at). It was not a book that i couldn’t put down, but one that i did want to finish because i cared about the characters.
