it was amazing

4.5* - just because I didn't quite understand the final twist, and I never did feel like I quite understood exactly what was going on. But that's on me. I couldn't put it down. Viskic is an author in control of her plot and especially characterisation. The most glorious thing about this novel is Caleb's subjectivity, as a Deaf man in a hearing world. Someone's lived experience must inform Viskic's portrayal of the way Caleb navigates social media and technology; and the inside jokes, the shorthand and adaptations towards living in a hearing world, which strengthen bonds within the Deaf community.
